Alcohol Addiction

Alcohol Addiction

Each year, a typical young person in the United States is inundated with more than 1,000 commercials for beer and wine coolers and several thousand fictional drinking incidents on television.
  1. Alcohol is involved in 50% of all driving fatalities.
  2. In the United States, every 30 minutes someone is killed in an alcohol related traffic accident.
  3. Over 15 million Americans are dependent on alcohol. 500,000 are between the age of 9 and 12.
  4. Each year the liquor industry spends almost $2 billion dollars on advertising and encouraging the consumption of alcoholic beverages.
  5. Americans spend over $90 billion dollars total on alcohol each year.
  6. An average American may consume over 25 gallons of beer, 2 gallons of wine, and 1.5 gallons of distilled spirits each year.
  7. Pregnant women who drink are feeding alcohol to their babies. Unfortunately the underdeveloped liver of the baby can only burn alcohol at half the rate of its mother, so the alcohol stays in the baby’s system twice as long.
  8. Each year students spend $5.5 billion on alcohol, more then they spend on soft drinks, tea, milk, juice, coffee, or books combined.
  9. 56% of students in grade 5 to 12 say that alcohol advertising encourages them to drink.
  10. 6.6% of employees in full time jobs report heavy drinking, defined as drinking five or more drinks per occasion on five or more days in the past 30 days.
  11. The highest percentage of heavy drinkers (12.2%) is found among unemployed adults between the age of 26 to 34
  12. Up to 40% of all industrial fatalities and 47% of industrial injuries can be linked to alcohol consumption and alcoholism.
  13. In 2000, almost 7 million persons age 12 to 20 was a binge drinker; that is about one in five persons under the legal drinking age was a binge drinker.
  14. The 2001 survey shows 25 million (one in ten) Americans surveyed reported driving under the influence of alcohol. This report is nearly three million more than the previous year. Among young adults age 18 to 25 years, almost 23% drove under the influence of alcohol.
  15. Drunk driving is proving to be even deadlier then what we previously know. The latest death statistics released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), using a new method of calculation show that 17,488 people where killed in alcohol related traffic accidents last year. This report represents nearly 800 more people where killed than the previous year.

Inpatient heroin addiction treatment verses outpatient heroin programs.
Heroin abuse is a serious problem and once the addiction takes hold of a person, it can take a medical detox to help with the painful withdrawal that can be associated with a heroin addiction. Getting someone that is addicted to heroin into a program for a minimum of 45-90 days can have a profound difference between success and failure.
Inpatient treatment for heroin addiction is by far the best option for someone that has tried to stop heroin and failed in an outpatient or self help program previously. For those who are in early development in their heroin addiction some outpatient programs may work for those that put in the time and effort to stay away from their old habits and friends while going through the programs.
Treating heroin addiction in Georgia will involve many steps to make the recovery process effective. For most people, there will be a need for a medical detox to alleviate the symptoms of Heroin withdrawal. Give is a call now. We are here to help you, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

entering into rehab
Heroin addiction can sometimes include other drugs so it is very important to make sure that you disclose all of the drugs you are currently using and have taken in the past 6 months. This will help the detox center for heroin addiction, better diagnose and prescribe the best medications to make your detox go smoothly and as pain free as possible. Do not try to detox on your own. Heroin withdrawal can last anywhere from a few days, to a few weeks, depending on the length of heroin  use and amount of heroin  being abused on a daily basis.

addiction help now
Detox should be followed by an extensive stay at a Heroin Inpatient treatment program. Private Inpatient drug rehabs offer the best results for long lasting sobriety from a Heroin addiction.

private treatment for addictionInpatient Heroin Rehabs
Most of the people that have fought with heroin addiction have one thing in common: They recovered from their addiction at an inpatient heroin rehab center. Some people can find sobriety at an outpatient treatment program but due to the temptations and availability to go find heroin, this type of program is less effective in treating the addiction as a whole.  The typical stay for someone recovering from a heroin addiction can vary from center to center and usually consists of 30-90 day programs.

Heroin addiction medications and uses
Sometimes a medical intervention can be used to help ween a person off of heroin at a slower rate, alleviating the withdrawal symptoms normally associated with a heroin Detox.
Buprenorphine: Being an opioid, Buprenorphine accesses the same receptors in the brain that heroin interacts with. This allows for a seemingly painless transition while managing cravings and withdrawal symptoms.
Methadone: Over they last few decades, this drug has become a bit controversial due to the fact that the body can build up a tolerance quickly if taken to often and is under investigation for being potentially addictive. Methadone is considerably stronger than Buprenorphine but works in the same manor, offering alleviated symptoms from withdrawal.
Naltrexone: Designed to block opioid receptors, blocking the effects that would normally take place once Heroin or  an opioid is entered into the system. Also used in treating alcoholism.
Suboxone: Specifically designed to work in combination of Buprenorphine and Naltrexone. This combination of drugs not only manages the addiction, it also alleviates the temptation to use heroin due to the opioid blocking drug Naltrexone.

affects of heroin abuse
Mexican drug trafficking cartels, which dominate the country’s illegal drug market, are increasingly transitioning to heroin, replanting marijuana fields in Mexico with opium, to produce more potent, powder form of heroin to meet the growing demands in the United States. Heroin is a fast moving drug and it is growing in popularity among the younger drug experimenters. Having a more pure form of heroin appeals to those who are abusing Pharmaceutical opioid pain relievers giving them a cheaper option to stay off the painful withdrawal symptoms and a much lower cost.
With the introduction of a much purer form of synthetic Fentanyl hitting the streets and being used to cut in the heroin, has contributed greatly to the rise in overdose rates in Georgia.

How Much Does Rehab Cost

How Much Does Rehab Cost

how much does rehab cost
addiction no more free drug rehab locator
How much does Rehab really cost?
When looking for a program for addiction to drugs or alcohol, the first thought that goes through most peoples minds is the cost of the program. The cost associated with private treatment programs for addiction can vary from state to state due to location, type of facility, amenities, activities and the treatment programs they have to offer. The cost of a executive or luxury program can be considerably more than the cost of a standard treatment program or a state or locally run drug rehab. If you are requiring high end amenities and services or looking for a standard facility to handle your addiction, we will be able to help you find a program that will fit anyone’s budget.

holistic recovery
Luxury treatment and Executive Treatment Programs
Treatment programs for drug and alcohol addiction can be free, or it can cost the individual or insurance company tens of thousands of dollars a month. For those seeking a more expensive private treatment program,Executive rehab centers offer high end accommodations and services for their clients while in treatment for their addiction. High end or luxury rehab centers, offer private and exclusive treatment, in an upscale treatment environment while providing the latest treatment options to their clients. These exclusive treatment centers are specifically designed for celebrities, high profile clients, athletes, politicians, and athletes that are in need of complete privacy while undergoing treatment for their addictions.

rehab centers holistic
Some clients need to have special services and requests that they need the treatment facility to facilitate for them. This can increase the cost associated with treatment at the facility.  Some clients can require secretarial services as well as personal assistants while enrolled in a treatment program. Some programs cater to mothers that need to bring their children, or expecting mothers needing treatment. Programs that offer treatment for children and parents of addicts have activities and recreational facilities available for children while their parent is in treatment. Most people that want and need these services do not mind paying tens of thousands of dollars per month for what they want or need. Luxury rehab facilities  are the most expensive options for the treatment of addiction and cost between $20,000 a month to $80,000 a month for their treatment services.

family therapy for addiction

Standard Treatment Programs for Addiction
There are much cheaper options for treatment than the high cost of treatment at a luxury rehab program. The cost of a regular or standard drug and alcohol treatment can be considerably less, due to not having as many amenities as their luxurious counterparts do.  By focusing on the treatment and cutting out all the extra activities and amenities, they are able to deliver a great treatment program at a cost between $3,500 a month and up to $20,000 a month for the same treatment you would find at a higher price treatment program. The accommodations at a standard treatment program can include private rooms that have their own bathrooms, tv, and a space for a laptop computer. Standard rehabilitation program costs can be lower if the client does not mind having a roommate. Amenities include gym access, on site or off site, and in some cases swimming pools and saunas.
Most of the standard type treatment programs have multiple therapy models they can use for the treatment of addiction. Many of the programs offer massage therapy, acupuncture, yoga, gym memberships, as part of their programs or offered as add-ons for an additional charge. Standard treatment programs offer the latest in treatment options are are very effective in treating addiction without the need to break the bank.

Low Cost and Free Treatment Centers for Addiction
There are still programs that can be found that work with people that have little or no money. If you are working on a tight budget and are in need of treatment, the first option available is to use insurance to cover some or all of the costs associated with the treatment of addiction. For those that do not have insurance, there are still some options available through state funded treatment programs, church groups, and locally funded programs. If you are qualified forMedicaid and Medicare you can be eligible to receive detoxification and treatment at no cost to you. Most local health department and some churches, offer counseling services for little or no cost to the individual seeking treatment for their addiction to drugs or alcohol.

Some churches and non prophet organizations offer Christian Drug Rehab programs and free services for those in need. The programs that they offer are for people that have no where else to turn to get help and want to achieve a life without drugs or alcohol. Sober living houses and treatment programs are usually work type study programs to help cover the cost associated with delivering the treatment program.

Receiving treatment for an addiction at a luxury treatment program is great but for most of us, this type of drug rehabilitation program does not fit into our budgets. Everyone that is addicted and wants to get help, can receive help, regardless of money or insurance to cover the costs. If you are in need of help in finding a treatment program, we can help you discover the various options for treatment and determine with you the best program to suit your individual needs while enrolled in a program.  Call us toll free 18005135423 today.

Help with holding an Intervention

Help with holding an Intervention

interventions
intervention services

Drug and alcohol interventions are conducted by professionals who help you plan, train, and carry out the intervention process. Holding an intervention that is not well planned, can do more harm than good to the individual in question. If the addict feels trapped or attacked they will retreat and become more isolated and more hesitant to receiving treatment.
Drug an alcohol addiction affects more than just the drug user. Family and friends are usually affected as well. When you are dealing with a loved one that has become addicted to drugs or alcohol, it can leave us feeling helpless and uncertain on how we could possibly help them. People that struggle with addiction can often times, be oblivious to the fact that their addiction is affecting more than themselves. Interventions can get the person struggling with addiction, to understand exactly what their addiction is doing to themselves, as well as those around them. They can sometimes be unwilling to admit that there is even a problem with addiction or be unwilling to get help for their addiction.

Drug interventions can help someone not willing to enter treatment find the solution that they were not looking for. An intervention can help the addict change, by getting them into a treatment program before their life takes a turn for the worse. It can be a life saving event to hold an intervention for a loved one. Waiting for them to seek help on their own can have devastating consequences or even death. Drug overdose was responsible for 41,340 deaths in the US in 2011. US overdose deaths have increased for 12 successive years. In 2011, and for the fourth year in a row, the number of US citizens whose deaths were drug-related exceeded the number of fatalities in road traffic accidents (33,561). Almost five people per hour died of overdose in the US in 2011. ref from http://www.overdoseday.com/. If you or someone you love is caught in the grips of addiction give us a call and we can help you find out what options are available to you.

drug assessmentWhat is an intervention?
Interventions for addiction, are planned and controlled attempts at getting someone to agree to enter treatment for their addiction. The planning and training for an intervention is done without the addicts knowledge to ensure that everyone if fully trained on what to expect during the intervention process. Family and friends get together with the help of an intervention specialist, to discuss with the addict how addiction has affected not only their lives but those around them. If treatment is refused after the sharing portion of the intervention, the family and friends spell out the consequences that will ensue after the intervention has completed. Drug or alcohol interventions work best if there is a professional present to help with the training and planning of the event.
interventionThe intervention process and steps of an intervention.

Planning the intervention is the first step. A family member or friend starts to gather family and close friends together for a group meeting. It is recommended that there is a professional present during all stages of the intervention process.  There is always a chance that there may be an angry or violent reaction from the addict. It is highly recommended to get a third party involved in the intervention. To get help finding an interventionist please give us a call we will assist you.
Be sure to have all the information as to what the person is having problems with and to what extent the addiction is perceived to be. This information should be gathered before the intervention starts. Making arrangements with a treatment center for addiction, will be needed before the intervention takes place, to ensure a seamless transition from the intervention to the treatment center.
Decide who can and is willing to participate in, the intervention process. In most cases 4-8 people are involved; including family, friends, teachers, co-workers, clergy or anyone that is a positive influence in their lives. Be sure not to include anyone that is using drugs or can be antagonistic during the intervention process.
Each person that is involved in the intervention needs to decide what they will do if the addict refuses to get help with their addiction. The consequences for not entering treatment need to be something that can be followed through on, to make the individual in question feel the severity of not getting help. Examples of this may include withdrawing any financial support, asking them to move out, or stopping all communication from family or friends until they receive the help they need. Your drug interventionist will assist you with this very important step in the intervention process.

addiction counseling services
Having a written plan on what you are gonna say during the intervention; specific incidents that have caused destructive behaviors or actions. Financial and emotional breakdowns are of the most common occurrences in early addictions and can grow in intensity as the addiction continues unchecked. Including how much the person means to you, will help you convey the need for them to enter into treatment. Be sure not to include antagonistic arguments, name calling, or anything that can be perceived by them to be judgmental rhetoric in your letter.
When the day of the intervention finally arrives , The addict is invited to the intervention without their knowledge of the true reason for the meeting. The attendees take their turns going through their letters filled with concern  that they have written for the addict to hear. The option to enter treatment will be presented at this point which must be accepted or rejected at this time. Everyone must detail the consequences to the addict if treatment is refused. If treatment is accepted, having the treatment program already in place makes the transition seamless, allowing the addict to enter into a treatment program the very same day. Interventions can become very emotional and having an interventionist there will help to keep the intervention moving in the right direction as they are not emotionally involved allowing them to take the role of moderator during the whole process. If you are looking for an interventionist close to you, give us a call and we can help.

teen drug rehab centers
Once the intervention is finished and the person has agreed to go to treatment for their addiction, it is important to remain supportive so the addict can stay sober and avoid relapse. While in treatment, there are opportunities for loved ones to participate in group counseling and conflict resolution. Finding a treatment center that has aftercare will help the individual remain on their program after treatment has been completed. The national institute on drug abuse has done numerous studies in both inpatient and out-patient treatment and for those who complete a program and continuous with their aftercare for a year or more have a 90% success rate.
Interventions for drug or alcohol addiction are more effective when you have a professional interventionist present. Holding an intervention alone, can go wrong in so many ways. This is why it is always recommended to get some professional help. either through a phone consultation or actually having the interventionist present at the time of the intervention. If your loved one feels backed into a corner he or she may become more apprehensive to accepting treatment in the future. It is highly recommended that you bring in a professional if your loved one has a history of mental illness, violence, in denial of their usage or likely to become angry during the intervention. Interventionists will take all the information that you have provided them and suggest the best approach to get the individual into treatment.
We are available to answer all questions 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Addiction is a serious illness and you are not alone we will help you find an interventionist or help you with information on how you can get your loved one the treatment that the need.

There has become growing need for alternative to jail programs for first time offenders. Most states have adopted the jail alternative to relieve the over population of the jail system. Many drug and alcohol offenders that wind up in the court system will return home and repeat offend, as jail is no place rehabilitate a drug or alcohol offender.

court ordered drug rehab centers

Get help with addiction

There are many Drug Rehab Facilities that accept criminal justice clients and people with open court cases. Some of the county and state courts will suggest treatment in first time offender cases. Other courts have a different view on treatment and make a person jump through so many hoops it is overwhelming to get treatment. In this case you need to get a lawyer or public defender to help you handle all the red tape that is in your way to getting help for addiction. Hopefully this will work and the person will get the help they need and into a court approved treatment center for addiction.
When a person is sent to prison for their drug addiction problems, this will more often than not, cause the addiction to progress and facilitate a heavier addiction, once the person re-enters the world. By locking up a person up and segregating them from society for a long period of time, it makes it even harder for them to re integrate back to their communities. Once you enter prison, you are immediately surrounded by negativity and that only breeds negativity. A person can pick up some bad habits in prison and often times, become more involved in criminal activity.
Statistics:
  •  95% percent of untreated addicts die of their addiction.
  • Approximately half of state prison inmates report they were under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of their offence.
  • More than 23 million patients currently need alcohol treatment or drug treatment and only 3% get it.
  • Over 25% of Americans die prematurely as a result of their addiction.
  • The average person dies 26 years earlier than they would normally have.
  • 40% of traffic deaths are alcohol related.
  • Children of addicts and alcoholics are four times more likely to become addicts and alcoholics themselves than children of non-addicts
  • Violent behavior attributed to alcohol use accounts for roughly 49% of murders, 52% of rapes, 21% of suicides and 60% of child abuse
  • Rates of alcohol and drug addiction are highest among adults aged 18-29

Do not wait till it is to late to enter into a drug rehabilitation facility or drug rehab if there is a pending current or past drug case. Often times, it can be better to enter into a program and let the lawyers handle the legal problems while the person is in treatment for their addiction. Always check with your lawyer before making any legal decisions so you have the correct information and do not get yourself into more legal trouble.

Meth Addiction

Meth Addiction

meth addiction rehab

Crystal Meth, Methamphetamine, commonly know as Speed, chalk, up, crystal, glass, peanut butter, crank, and Meth has many other names.

methamphetamineMethamphetamine: A brief history of the drug and it’s path  into mainstream usage and abuse.

Methamphetamine has been around since 1887 and was made in Germany. It has evolved in production and techniques over the years, to make it more potent than previously designed. Methamphetamine saw a wide usage during world war II, both sides used it to keep troupes awake and alert for battle. High doses of the drug were given to Kamakasi pilots before their suicide missions. After the war, the supplies of methamphetamine made their way to the general public and the use by injection reached epidemic proportions.

In the 1950, meth was prescribed as a weight loss drug and to fight depression, making the drug accessible to the general public and was heavily abused by truck drivers athletes and college students.

The shift in the addiction rates changed in the 1960’s when an injectable version of the drug became available, making the abuse more wide spread.
In the 1970’s, the American government made methamphetamine illegal for most uses, stemming the illegal production of the drug, controlled by motorcycle gang distribution networks. This made the drug more available to urban housewives and young professionals that could not afford the more expensive cocaine.

The 1990’s gave birth to the Mexican drug traffickers and cartels, setting up huge labs in California, producing 50 or more pounds in a weekend, along with what they called “stove top meth”, cooked in kitchens around the country, making the spread of the drug faster than any drug in history.

speed addictionHow is methamphetamine used?
Methamphetamine is a very versatile drug. It can be smoked, snorted, and ingested. How you use the drug, will determine the side effects or high, you get. Methamphetamine use patterns are not that uncommon. As with most stimulants, there is a direct pattern of binge usage with a period of crash or down time. This pattern is very noticeable in most abusers of the drug and will stem irractic behaviors. The most common ways of use of the drug have tipped towards smoking it, usually in a glass pipe with a bulb and a small hole at the top. Meth is brought to temperature through indirect heat making the crystal bubble and smoke leaving a black tar like residue that can be heated up  and smoked again.

Long term and short term effects of meth abuse
Methamphetamine is a strong stimulant and can lead to loss of appetite, increased physical activity, and loss of sleep. When smoked or injected, the user gets a rush type feeling that is short lived and leads to more of the drug needed to regain that rush feeling. Ingesting the drug orally or snorting it up the nose can produce an ongoing high rather than a rush you would get from injecting or smoking the substance. Both the rush and the long-lasting high are a direct result of dopamine being discharged higher than normal levels, creating an intense feeling of pleasure followed by depression and weakness on the downside. High doses of methamphetamine can bring the body temperature to dangerous levels as well as cause seizures.
Long term methamphetamine abuse can have many physically and mental destructive side effects.  Methamphetamine abusers can exhibit violent behavior, confusion, insomnia, and anxiety. They can also suffer from psychotic break downs including, paranoia, auditory and sensory hallucinations, rapid mood swings, delusions, and sensations of things crawling under their skin. Some meth users can have homicidal or suicidal thoughts, that can result in harm to themselves or others.

Chronic methamphetamine use can lead to severe lead poisoning due to manufacturing errors. Another possible risk for methamphetamine abuse, can result in inflammation of the heart lining, and among users who inject the drug, damaged blood vessels and skin abscesses are very common. Methamphetamine use during pregnancy can have long lasting effects for the baby including increased rates of premature births, prenatal complications, abnormal reflexes, irritability and congenital deformities.

Anti depressants and anxiety medications can be added to the withdrawal protocol to aid in the comfort of the individual in treatment.

The cost of treatment can depend on many factors.
There are state run treatment programs available for those who qualify or do not have insurance. Check with Drug Rehab Services or the substance abuse and mental health treatment locator (Samhsa)for more information on state funded programs.
